Charting Preferences – Automatically Import from Previous Chart
Within Settings > Business > Provider Settings > Charting Preferences, you can configure several charting options, including:
Automatically opening specific sections of the chart note
Treatment Plan wording
Preferred font family and size
Printing supplement descriptions
And, importantly, enabling automatic importing from previous Chart Notes
You can set this up to:
Import from your own previous notes only
Or import from any practitioner’s previous notes
Once enabled, you can choose which sections you want to be automatically imported into your new note, such as:
Subjective Notes
Objective Notes
Assessment Notes
Plan Notes
Plan - Supplements
Diagnosis Codes
Services
Private Notes
Or, you can simply choose to “Copy All Sections from My Previous Notes”
Please Note:
Automatic importing will pull from the last chart note on file, regardless of appointment type. This feature is best suited for providers who deliver the same type of care visit after visit.
Importing from a Specific Previous Chart Note
If you prefer more control over what gets imported, OptiMantra allows you to import notes from a specific past visit while you're working within a new chart note.
Here’s how:
Open your new note (New Initial Consult, New Follow Up, or New Basic Note)
Click the History button (middle section in the upper grey toolbar)
Click the three blue dots under Actions/Import
-
Choose:
Import All to bring in the entire previous chart, or
Import Sections to select specific components. Note: When selecting “Import Sections,” you’ll be able to choose which areas of the note to pull over.
Importing Within Individual Charting Sections
You can also import notes directly within specific areas of a chart note, such as:
Subjective
Objective
Assessment
Plan
General Note
Other charting areas also support importing, including but not limited to:
Vitals
Primary Health Concerns
Custom Annotable Images
Lifestyle
TIP:
Look for buttons labeled “Import from Previous” or “Import Notes from Previous” across various sections of the chart note.
